Put your name on it — within what the certificate allows

Private label is free here, and the minimum order is one unit. What is not free, and not always possible, is changing anything that the type-approval describes. This page sets out exactly where that line sits, so nobody discovers it at the registration office.

The four levels of customisation #

LevelWhat it coversEffect on the approval
L1 · AppearanceBody colour, decals, seat trim, cargo box finish, packaging, documentation setNone. This is the level we do every day.
L2 · ConfigurationBattery capacity and chemistry, instrumentation, optional equipmentMay move the vehicle to a different variant. Certified range applies to the tested configuration only.
L3 · Private labelYour name on the nameplate, your marks on the packagingPermitted only where the plate still matches the manufacturer named on the certificate.
L4 · New developmentA new body, a new chassis, a new category targetRequires a new type-approval. We do not take this work.

Why a plate has to match the certificate #

A certificate of conformity names the manufacturer that holds the type-approval. The statutory plate on the vehicle has to agree with it. If a dealer fits a plate carrying a different manufacturer name, the registration office compares the two documents, finds the mismatch, and refuses the registration. The vehicle is not defective — the paperwork is.

This is a legal boundary, not a commercial preference Putting your own trade mark on a vehicle and placing it on the market can make you the manufacturer for product-safety purposes, with the technical file, conformity and recall obligations that follow. That is a decision to take deliberately, with your own legal advice, not as a free branding option.

What we can genuinely do #

  • Colour and livery. Any RAL body colour, decal sets, seat trim, box finish. No approval impact.
  • Battery configuration. Capacity and chemistry, quoted per configuration. The certified range stays that of the tested configuration.
  • Packaging and documentation. SKD or CBU, your marks, your document set in your language where we can source the translation.
  • Nameplate. Your brand on the plate where the approval permits it — we will tell you before the order whether it does.
  • Order size. One unit. This is the part a factory cannot do; a multi-source supplier can.

What we will not pretend to do #

  • Call a vehicle ours when the certificate names someone else.
  • Change the manufacturer on a certificate. Only the holder can, and it means a new approval.
  • Move a vehicle into a lower licence category by limiting its speed. The power rating decides that, not the limiter.
  • Deliver a five-seat body certified for four seats, or a passenger body certified as goods.

How an OEM project runs #

  1. 01
Send the model and the intended market

We come back with the category, the licence class in that country, and the certificate for the type.

  2. 02
    Confirm the level you need

L1 is a normal order. L2 or L3 needs a written answer on whether the variant or the plate can carry your change.

  3. 03
    Sample or first unit

One unit, shipped with the full document set so your registration office sees exactly what a customer will see.

  4. 04
    Batch

Same configuration, same documents, repeated. Container density quoted per model so freight is not a surprise.

Send us the model and the market

We will answer with the category, the certificate and an honest yes or no on your branding.
